Toxicity in Mobile Homes

April 18th, 2010 by pacapao

Consumer concern about toxicity in mobile homes is an issue that is not dwindling but is rather growing in importance for health reasons since there is an increasing number of mobile home occupants that have experienced noticeable serious health issues while living in trailers. Of most recent note is the many numbers of people who were left homeless in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana.

As an attempt to provide immediate temporary homes to the many thousands who lost their homes, the Federal government intervened and provided quickly built house trailers for many families until they could find their own permanent place to live. After several months of living in these temporary homes, many people began to notice health problems that they had never had before such as asthmatic problems, upper respiratory issues and a host of other strange symptoms. Many attributed these adverse reactions to the mobile homes in which they lived since they noticed a strong, pungent odor that constantly emitted from the homes.

While this is a general example without complete scientific study to back up their claims as of yet, there is mounting evidence that traditionally built mobile homes have an undue amount of chemicals laced throughout the building materials that are used to construct them. Federal regulatory agencies have even reduced the allowed amount of chemical toxins allowable in the building of these home as far back as the ’80s.

Obviously, there has been a concern backed up by scientific evidence for quite some time about the negative health effects associated with living in most typical mobile homes, especially newer home that still emit dangerous chemical fumes. So why isn’t the issue of toxicity in mobile homes directly addressed by health experts as well as government regulatory agencies? And why isn’t the public commonly aware of the dangers of this phenomenon?

The short explanation is that to exclude or ban the material used in the construction of these homes would seriously hurt manufacturers and mobile homes sales. A ‘band aid’ regulatory provision is in place regarding chemical toxins used in building these homes, but really doesn’t make house trailers as safe as they should be for consumers. So, it’s important for consumers to be aware of what they are getting when they choose to purchase a new mobile home.

What goes into the construction of the typical house trailer? Particle board is often used in the sheathing, subflooring and decking of most mobile homes. It is also used in the construction of the interior kitchen and bathroom cabinetry as well as other areas. Vinyl is very often used to cover the walls, floor and other surfaces to make for a better looking finish.

Also, glue is used in various places throughout a home. Carpeting is used to cover floors as well. Sounds normal doesn’t it? The problem is that most of these substances have a high level of various chemicals that continue to de-gas for years. Chemicals such as formaldehyde is found in particle board and plywood. It’s also found in carpeting and various types of glues.

Petrochemicals are also found in vinyl and plastics as well as some carpeting. This is just a few of some of the most toxic chemicals used in the building materials of mobile homes. That’s not to consider the various stains, paints and sealants used in the construction process. If these chemicals can be dangerous to a person’s health, then why are they consistently used?

Since mobile homes need to be lighter in weight for road transit, many of these chemicals make it possible to build the homes much lighter in weight. Also, it’s cheaper to use synthetic based materials rather than natural materials such as solid wood. It’s important for health reasons to understand inherit toxicity in mobile homes for those who plan on purchasing a new one or are already living in a house trailer.

Prices of TV, Plasma and Projector Mounts

April 16th, 2010 by pacapao

These days there are a vast assortment of brackets and mounts available for electronic devices and appliances for residential as well as official purposes. These brackets are not only durable but they are also highly practical and flexible to be used in homes offices, schools, hospitals and almost anywhere at all. They are mostly suitable for using with flat and plasma screens which might give many people the misconception that they are relatively expensive. However their prices are as variable as their types and designs.

In particular there are three different main series of brackets and screen mounts available. These include FHP for 10 to 26 inch screens, MCS for 30 to 55 inch screens and FWD for small flat panels. They also offer wall mounts for screens as large as 71 inches. The bigger the supports the more will be their price. Similarly the price for fixed brackets and chief mounts is relatively less compared to that of movable ones. The general price range of products available is from $100 up to $300.

You can even purchase some mounts for as low as $50 however compromising on quality is not a wise option because it puts your device at risk. There are chief mounts available which are mobile and allow for viewing adjustments and are very cheaply priced however there is always a trade off in such cases. When you are offered numerous characteristics at a low price you should always be cautious because there is a good chance that the product material is of poor quality.

You should give equal importance to purchasing a mount as you do to a TV set, a screen or a projector because unless they are both compatible there are risks to their safety. Purchasing a mount saves you a lot of space and it also keeps wires, cables and satellite boxes out of sight so they do not look unpleasant and unappealing.

Since the price range is so diverse you can find something or the other no matter what your budget is. Through purchasing these mounts you get the opportunity for greater visibility and a safer way to hand your electric devices and appliances. The new plasma, LCD and flat screen TVs and displays are the latest rage amongst the masses. They look stylish and fancy however they are very easy to afford and are great for enhancing the overall ambiance of the surroundings.

Ziigmund on PowerPoker and Full Tilt

April 15th, 2010 by pacapao

He was born in Helsinki, Finland, in 1983 and was very competitive in sports such as soccer and diving until his teenage years. During his teenage years his interests shifted and he began playing billiards – even winning the Finnish Junior Championships twice. When he was 15 years-old he watched a television programme about Texas Hold’em. The programme left Ziigmund fascinated and after talking about the game with his billiard friends he was invited to a home poker game with them. The game was hosted at fellow high stakes player Patrik Antonius’ home. After playing the game for real with his friends Ziigmund was left hooked and even began skipping school in order to play poker. When Ziigmund finally graduated from school at 18 years-old he began playing in the cash games at the Grand Casino Helsinki.

By 2002 Ziigmund was a regular winner at the casino and decided to take his game online. He joined several online poker sites and deposited, beginning at the $50 No-Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha games. Ziigmund had instant success in these games, but his downfall would be bankroll management. After a few winning sessions he would move up to higher stakes and take shots, only to go broke. This happened to him several times but he always managed to rebuild his bankroll thanks to his aggressive style. Ziigmund built his bankroll by playing 15-hour sessions every day, multi-tabling the games. Quickly Ziigmund had built a fearsome reputation on European sites, so much that few players would play against him.

After dominating all of the European internet poker sites, Ziigmund opened a Full Tilt Poker account in 2006. At this time the biggest games available on Full Tilt Poker were $25/$50 NLHE and $50/$100 PLO. Ziigmund became a regular fixture in these games, playing against players such as Phil Ivey, Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan, Gus Hansen, his friend Patrik Antonius, and many others. Since 2006 the games have grown and the highest limits available on Full Tilt Poker are now $500/$1000 where Ziigmund is a regular winner. According to highstakesdb.com, Ziigmund has won $3.4 million playing at Full Tilt Poker. This number would be much more, but Ziigmund used to have a habit of playing drunk and flipping pots worth hundreds of thousands. He has also been well known for his chat antics, often referring to Gus Hansen as a fish and calling players lucky, which makes for fun viewing!

2009 was a rollercoaster year for Ziigmund, but a great one overall. He began the year becoming the front-man for new online poker room PowerPoker where he often plays, as well as participates in a weekly tournament on the site where there is a bounty on his head. Then in the summer, Ziigmund travelled to Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker. It wasn’t bracelets Ziigmund was interested in however. He took his seat in Bobby’s Room to play against the best cash game poker players in the world. This included Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, David Benyamine, Doyle Brunson, Patrik Antonius, and many others. Ziigmund later admitted to being involved in two of the largest pots he has ever played – one he won, and one he lost. The pot he won was worth a staggering $1.7 million, but the pot he lost was worth $2.7 million against Patrik Antonius, despite running it twice.

2010 is set to be a huge year for Ziigmund. He won over $1 million in January and has stated he will be entering a lot more live poker tournaments. You can watch Ziigmund play the highest stakes available online at Full Tilt Poker, or you can play against him for cheap at PowerPoker (read a PowerPoker review first) and knock him out to get the bounty on his head!

Purchasing A Plasma Television Console

April 13th, 2010 by pacapao

Finding the perfect complementary plasma television console for your living room or den can be stressful. But with plasma television sets becoming so popular today, there are more options than ever before.

Why A Plasma Television Console?

A plasma television console can be a more forgiving piece of furniture to have in your living room if you have a lot clutter that you need to hide, such as a gaming console, a ton of movies, a DVD player and maybe a stereo system. It’s just not feasible to have one of those cute shelf-like systems that will display your clutter and make your hot streamline television look like the flag atop a pile of rubble.

A plasma television console comes is in wood or a nice metal finish would be the perfect addition to set off your new TV set. This type of set up offers a wide area to display your new Plasma and plenty of storage space underneath for your video game console and DVD player. This is a popular choice among owners because it has a contemporary feel to it that still follows suit with the sleek design of the plasma.

There are wider versions of the credenza style and narrower ones that are just wide enough to cover the width of your new TV. This variety gives you ample flexibility no matter how large or small a space you have available. Not everyone can pull of the look of a strategically wall mounted television set; we need the furniture!

A new plasma television console will open up the area you are show casing, making an otherwise cramped space seem inviting and comfortable. Especially when you’re used to having a huge “entertainment system” taking up an entire wall of your living room, going to a wall mount can be too much of a culture shock.

The stream line look of the plasma TV and the plasma television console are the contemporary design that everyone is going for these days. The idea of “classic furniture” now even has a taste of contemporary mixed in. The plasma television console is a nice transition piece even for those that still have a more classic air to their homes. It will blend the two styles perfectly.

These devices give the illusion of streamline cleanliness, making your room give off a more professional feeling. Over all, there are a lot of choices similar to the ever familiar “entertainment center” out there to accompany your new purchase, it’s just a matter of knowing what suits your style.

A Vegetarian Diet – Go Vegan!

April 9th, 2010 by pacapao

Many people are now choosing to eat a vegetarian diet and have decided to become life long vegans. As studies are beginning to show the risks associated with a diet high in meat and fish, the vegetarian diet offers a healthy alternative. What are the advantages of a diet that consists of mainly beans, vegetables, whole grains, fruits and nuts? Those who follow this lifestyle change suggest there are many.

It has been shown that a diet low in animal fat products reduces the risks for all sorts of cancers. The consumption of a diet high in fruits, nuts and whole grains has as much as a 50 percent less chance of developing all sorts of cancers. The metabolic changes caused by eating this type of diet boosts the immune system and alter the way the body metabolizes nutrients helping it to fight the development of cancer.

Vegetarian diets reduce the risk for heart disease. This diet is lower in harmful saturated fats that raise cholesterol. The soluble fiber from whole grains helps lower serum cholesterol. Studies have shown that the folic acid, dietary fiber, potassium, magnesium, carotenoids, phytosterols, flavonoids, and other polyphenolic antioxidants found in fresh fruits and vegetables can provide protection against cardiac disease.

The consumption of a vegetarian diet lowers the risk of developing diabetes which is associated with the high intake of nuts and whole grains. Diabetics who switch to a vegan diet often lower their blood sugar and reduce or eliminate the need for costly medications.

The cost of a vegetarian diet is much less. By cutting out high priced meats the cost to the consumer’s grocery budget is less. Health care costs are also reduced as the chance of developing diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease and cancer are lessened.

The variety of foods the vegetarian diet provides is immense. There are a vast variety of beans that when combined with rice makes them complete proteins. Stews, soups and casseroles make for an appetizing meal the whole family will enjoy. Soy bean curds and tofu provide a great base for dips and spreads.

Current studies are now showing that there is a lower mortality rate amongst vegetarians. The health benefits provided from a well rounded vegetarian diet are convincing many to give it a try. Any reduction in high fat animal consumption has a myriad of health benefits. Even if you do not choose to completely cut out meat, increasing your intake of fruits, vegetables, nuts and whole grains will have a marked impact on your overall health.

Your Home, an Artist’s Canvas

April 8th, 2010 by pacapao

Entertainment centers have no longer been an amenity in homes of only celebrities, lawyers and doctors, that it now a thing of the past as they have become a common unit in all homes. The prices have become very reasonable that even the little man on the street has one. Gone are the days when the entertainment systems which consist of a TV, DVD player and game console are “a sight for sore eyes” in your living/family room, recreational room or even your bedroom or kitchen. The “in” thing these days however is the mounting of an LCD Plasma TV on a modern wall unit.

The mounting of your flat panel TV, creates a striking, ultra modern look while creating a cinema – like experience in the home. It is simple to set up and can save consumers money, as the predrilled holes in the rear of most Televisions makes installation quite easy. Before purchasing a wall mount please ensure you are sure of the type that is suitable for you and the location it will be installed.

Are you a “chef in training”? Do you love watching Guy Fieri on the Food Network channel work his magic, following step by step? Do you have limited space and feel cramped with the TV being on the counter? If you have answered yes to any of these questions then a TV under Cabinet Mount is perfect for you. They provide a great way to maximize space, allowing the Television screen to be kept out of the way, avoiding food and dirty stains but allowing you to be entertained in the kitchen.

Generally, under-cabinet TV mounts have been designed so that the screen can be folded against the surface of the cabinet overhead. You are not restricted to watching Television in the common living or family room but anywhere that is convenient to you. While these may be popular, there are others. For very large rooms, one might opt for a ceiling mount. Ceiling mounts allows your flat screen TV to be viewed by a large group of individuals in a room very easily. They are no only a great idea for home use but for game rooms and movie nights. You will sometimes see ceiling mount TV’s in restaurants and bars.

Before purchasing a modern Entertainment Centers such as a wall mount there are a few things that have to be taken into consideration. Note that not all flat panel TV’s have flat backs so the correct wall mount should be purchased. Customization of wall mounts to fit your decor is an option as they range in different colours, different design to fit your everyday style. Be the artist and make your home you own your own canvas.

Home Theater Big Screen TV

April 6th, 2010 by pacapao

Every home should have a home theater big screen TV. With todays HDTV there are just to many excellent DVD videos movies to watch. Soon there will be nothing but HDTV so that old TV is out so why not a big screen TV to make the change.

It seems like a big screen TV is getting easier for the average person to afford every day as the demand rises.

There are three types of big screen TV’s I recommend to consider in todays electronics age. The Digital Projection, LCD and Plasma big screen TV. Let me explain what they are.

Big Screen Digital Projection TV’s have come a long way with the presence of new electronics technology. Digital projections TV’s today play clear and bright video pictures. Take for example Toshibas 56″ Theaterwide Rear Projection TV.

You can get a big screen TV up to 100 inches in diameter for less than $2,000 making digital projection TV’s a great value and extremely affordable.

LCD TV’s are similar to today’s computer monitors. While they don’t come as big yet as the digital projection TV’s, they are ultra thin and light weight. Many LCD TV’s can be mounted on a wall for space saving reasons. LCD’s are much more expensive than digital projection, but the price is dropping very fast.

Plasma TV’s are the Grand Daddy of the big screen TV’s. You can find plasma TV’s in the 40 inch to 60 inch range like this 42″ Widescreen Edtv Plasma Tv, but expect to pay a lot. For the money, plasma delivers an awesome picture.

With this new age of electronic technology there is no reason not to have a big screen TV. They are affordable and the day is coming when all TV’s will be digital and there will be no other choice.
